No referral is needed to see a psychologist privately. If you'd like to claim a Medicare rebate, you’ll need a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.

Absolutely! We can work with self-managed and plan-managed clients.

Unfortunately, at this time, Unfurl Psychology is not able to see NDIA (agency-managed ) NDIS participants.

Individuals with a valid GP referral may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for psychological therapy services through a Mental Health Care Plan. Those under 25 years old may also be eligible for rebates on psychological assessments with a GP referral.

1. Book an appointment with your GP (family doctor).

2. Talk to them about your mental health or assessment needs.

3. Ask if they can provide you with a referral for psychological services or assessment.

4. Once you have the referral, you can share it with us when you book your sessions.

Please note: We can accept any valid GP referral, regardless of who it’s addressed to.

An autism diagnosis can definitely be part of the evidence used in an NDIS application, but it doesn’t automatically mean you’ll be eligible for funding.

The NDIS has its own criteria for access, which looks at more than just a diagnosis. Sometimes a psychologist’s diagnostic report is enough, but often they’ll ask for additional supporting information. This might include functional assessments or reports from other allied health professionals like an occupational therapist, speech pathologist, a clinical psychologist or GP.
