Meet Us
Our story
We think therapy should feel a lot less cold and clinical, and a lot more like a space where you're genuinely seen, supported, and understood (without having to over-explain or perform to be taken seriously). That goes for our team as much as it does for our clients.
At the core of Unfurl is a simple belief: people deserve a support system that cares deeply, shows up consistently, and helps life feel a little lighter to carry. We aim to create a therapy space that feels human, affirming, and a little bit quirky, a space where support doesn't have to feel intimidating, or ask you to fit yourself into a box.
Psychologist & Director
Meet Gabby Desmond
(she/her)-
Hi, I'm Gabby , an AuDHD psychologist and the founder of Unfurl Psychology. I'm deeply passionate about supporting the neurodivergent community, especially those who've spent a long time feeling misunderstood, too much, or not enough. I started Unfurl not only to better accommodate my own neurotype (working from home with my dogs, in my jammies… hello!), but because I could clearly see a gap in the kind of support that actually works for neurodivergent people.
My goal is to offer therapy that is relational, low-demand, and genuinely judgement-free. No pressure to perform. No "fixing" who you are. Just a space where you can show up as yourself and take things at your own pace.

I'm EMDR trained and enjoy integrating parts work and schema concepts, but I believe the relationship in therapy is the core of meaningful change. Your sessions are your sessions, they don't need to follow a script or agenda. We'll let things flow in the way that feels most supportive for you.I love working with neurodivergent women, AFAB and non-binary folk to explore identity, burnout, work stress, anxiety, sexuality, sex and relationships and overall coping.

Outside the therapy room, Gabby is often found upside down at her pole studio, a hobby she's been happily hyperfocused on for five years. When she's not there, she's likely trying out another apparatus like lyra- less graceful, but always enthusiastic.
In summer, she heads to the beach in her Jimny with her dogs Dutch and Winston sticking their noses out the back window. And on quieter days, you'll find her curled up on the couch with them, a bottle of Coke nearby, crocheting, playing sims 4 or getting lost in romantasy on her Kindle.

Meet Emily Langron
(she/her)-
Hi, I'm Em. I've always been curious about people. What shapes us, how we make sense of ourselves, and why two people can experience the world so differently. As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD later in life, I also know how powerful it can be when something you've struggled to understand about yourself finally begins to make sense. While everyone's story is different, I know the relief that can come from replacing self-criticism with self-understanding.
Whether you're navigating burnout, anxiety, perfectionism, a major life transition, exploring ADHD or autism, or simply trying to understand yourself a little better, my hope is that you feel understood from the moment you walk through my (telehealth) door.I don't believe seeing a psychologist is about fixing who you are.I believe it's about understanding yourself, working with your brain rather than against it, and building a life that feels more aligned with who you are and what matters most to you.
-
I'm particularly passionate about supporting women, LGBTQIA+ individuals and gender diverse people who are exploring ADHD or autism, navigating life after a late diagnosis, or simply wanting to better understand themselves and build a life that genuinely works for them. The people I work with are often incredibly insightful, caring and capable. They're the people others rely on. They care deeply about doing a good job, being there for the people they love and getting life "right". But behind the scenes, they might be carrying overwhelm, self-doubt, perfectionism or the constant feeling that they're working so much harder than everyone else just to keep up.One of my favourite parts of this work is watching people begin to see themselves differently. The moment they stop asking, "What's wrong with me?" and start understanding the experiences, strengths and challenges that have shaped who they are.My approach is warm, collaborative and neuroaffirming. I enjoy combining practical strategies with meaningful conversations because I believe understanding yourself is only part of the journey. The other part is creating sustainable ways of living that honour your strengths, values and needs. You don't need to arrive with all the answers or know exactly where to start. We'll work through it together.

Before retraining as a psychologist, I spent over 13 years as a teacher, living and working throughout regional and remote Australia, the Kimberley, North Queensland and the UK. Looking back, I think those experiences shaped so much of who I am today. They taught me the importance of curiosity, meeting people where they're at, and recognising that every person experiences the world differently.
Outside of work, you'll usually find me walking my dogs, curled up with my Kindle, spending time with family and friends, or searching for great coffee and Japanese food.
I'm also a big believer in slowing down. Quiet weekends, time in nature and creating space to recharge are things I value deeply, and something I'm continually reminding myself to prioritise too.

(she/her)-
Hi I’m the other Em! I’ve always been someone who is curious about why people feel, think and respond the way they do, but what I love most about psychology is getting to know the person underneath all of that.
I’m drawn to working with people who are used to being hard on themselves… the overthinkers, people-pleasers, perfectionists or the ones who keep pushing through even when they’re exhausted. Sometimes life can start to feel a little heavy with expectations and therapy can be a place to gently unpack some of that pressure.
A big part of the work I love is helping people understand themselves with a little more kindness and a little less judgement. More than anything, I hope therapy feels like a space where you can exhale a little, feel understood, and leave with a clearer sense of what you need and what matters to you.
-
I’m especially passionate about working with teens, young adults, women, neurodivergent clients and LGBTQIA+ people.
I really enjoy supporting people who are trying to make sense of themselves, whether that’s understanding ADHD or autism, exploring identity, navigating relationships, dealing with anxiety or perfectionism, or moving through one of those life stages where everything suddenly feels a bit uncertain.
One of the things I find most meaningful in therapy is helping someone move from judging themselves for how they’re coping to becoming curious about why certain patterns developed in the first place.
My approach is warm and collaborative. I draw a lot from ACT, schema and self-compassion approaches, but I believe therapy should be flexible and tailored to each individual’s needs. Sometimes we might focus on practical strategies; other times, the most helpful thing is having space to slow down, untangle what’s happening, and understand yourself a little better.

Outside of psychology, a lot of the things that make me feel most like myself involve moving my body, spending time with people I love, and being outdoors and ideally, all three at once. That might look like going for a walk with family or friends, heading to the beach, yoga or lifting weights. I love anything that gets me out of my head and back into the world around me.
